36th Annual Somersworth International Children’s Festival

Music, food and fun return to the Hilltop City for the 36th annual Somersworth International Children’s Festival (SICF) presented by the Somersworth Festival Association (SFA).

The “Celebration” is set to take place on Friday, June 17 starting at 6:00 pm with a concert and fireworks at the pavilion stage, and Saturday, June 18 with multiple events at Somersworth High School on Memorial Drive and at Noble Pines Park on Noble Street.

The concert features child entertainer Wayne from Maine Puppet Band and local, premiere 80s tribute band, Bad Breath Microphone, ending the night with Fireworks. Organizers suggest bringing lawn chairs and blankets.
There is no fee to enter the gated “Celebration” area “…but support for this event through a suggested donation of $5 per family or $2 per person will ensure the celebration can continue, and it is greatly appreciated.”
On Saturday, the festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Memorial Drive will be loaded with children’s activities, product and service vendors exhibiting their special wares, food vendors, special displays and a variety of amusement activities plus the world cultures passport center area.

The amusement activities include the Climbing Wall, Rat Race, Tigerslide, the Obstacle Course, Dunking Booth and the Bungee Jump. New this year is a Race Course for Zorb Balls.

Traditional foods like Burgers, Sausages, Steak and Cheese Subs, French Fries, Hot Dogs, Pizza, Fried Dough and Indonesian Foods will be for Sale.

A second Venue at Noble Pines Park features a Petting Zoo, Bouncy House, a Mist Park, Children’s Play Area, Pony Rides and a Stage with Kids Entertainment.

There will a Free Trolley by Coast Bus running between the two sites.

Organizers suggest St. Martin’s Church parking lot, the SAU building lot or the Baptist Church on Cemetery Road and walk to the West entrance into the Festival at the corner of Cemetery Road and Memorial Drive.
