Somersworth Parks and Recreation Department offers a diversity of programs for all ages to meet the needs of residents and non-residents. The Recreation Department encourages wholesome and healthful use of leisure and recreation for the citizens of Somersworth. We hope you will discover and participate in many of the programs, events and trips that we offer.
Attention: All Dog Owners
Please be aware that the City of Somersworth has a leash law that prohibits dogs from running at large. It is also required that all owners be prepared and clean up their dog’s excrement expeditiously in any public place or upon the property of any other person.
WHO: BOYS and GIRLS, 1st Grade – 6th Grade WHEN: Saturdays, November 16 – January 11 COST: $45 for residents; $55 non-residents TIME & LOCATION: Idlehurst Elementary- 8:00-8:50 a.m. – 1st Graders (ALL) 9:00-10:25 a.m. – 3rd & 4th Grade (GIRLS) 9:00-10:25 a.m. – 5th & 6th Grade (GIRLS) Somersworth Middle School- 8:00-8:50 a.m. – 2nd Graders (ALL) 9:00-10:25 a.m. – 3rd & 4th Grade (BOYS) 10:30-12:00 p.m. – 5th & 6th Grade (BOYS)
TRAVEL BASKETBALL- This program is designed ONLY for children in grades 3-6 who are currently playing in our Recreation Youth Basketball League. Please note this program costs $50 for the season.
We will be having an open gym for all those who are interested in playing for the travel team.

NEW FALL INDOOR SOFTBALL PROGRAM-The Somersworth Recreation Department is partnering with the Somersworth-Berwick-Rollinsford Girls Softball League to offer a new skill building session this fall. Space is limited so be sure to sign up early!!

FLASHLIGHT CANDY CANE HUNT-For anyone who still believes!! Bring your flashlight and a bag to help collect the candy canes nestled throughout Millennium Park. Afterwards we will enjoy cookies, cocoa, and good cheer while awaiting Santa Claus to arrive upon a fire truck. WHO: Ages 3+ WHEN: Friday, December 13th at 6:30 p.m. WHERE: Millennium Park (99 Stackpole Road) COST: FREE!!
Check out the new Splash Pad located at Noble Pines Park!
Attention: The Splash Pad is now closed for the season and will re-open on Memorial Day in 2014.
Come beat the summer heat with Somersworth’s new and highly anticipated Splash Pad. The Splash pad will be open daily Memorial Day through Labor Day from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, weather permitting.
Please be sure to check out our rules and regulations before visiting the park:
- Running, jumping, and horse play are prohibited
- Water shoes or sandals are highly recommend for safety
- No pets, food, or drinks of any kind allowed on the Splash Pad
- No skateboards, roller blades, bicycles, and/or scooters allowed on the Splash Pad
- The City of Somersworth reserves the right to close the Splash Pad for routine maintenance or other concerns
- Please vacate the park when conditions call for thunder or lightning
- In the event of an emergency, call 911- the Splash Pad is located on 45 Grand Street
Looking for a private park rental for a function or party?!
Millennium Park is available for private one-day or two-day rentals on weekends from April to October. The park offers a softball field with lights, 12 horseshoe pits, 2 volleyball courts, electricity, bathroom facilities, 3 barbecue grills, pavilion with 8 picnic tables, small play structure and large parking lot. Recreation Contacts: We are located on the second floor of City Hall at 1 Government Way. Office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Registrations for all programs, events, and trips can be made in person at the Recreation Office located in City Hall. All registrations must include payment- please call before mailing a payment to ensure space is available. If we are not available in the office there is a drop box located across the hall for your convenience.
