Somersworth Parks and Recreation Department offers a diversity of programs for all ages to meet the needs of residents and non-residents. The Recreation Department encourages wholesome and healthful use of leisure and recreation for the citizens of Somersworth. We hope you will discover and participate in many of the programs, events and trips that we offer.

Attention: All Dog Owners 

Please be aware that the City of Somersworth has a leash law that prohibits dogs from running at large. It is also required that all owners be prepared and clean up their dog’s excrement expeditiously in any public place or upon the property of any other person.

easter-egg-huntEaster Egg-Stravaganza Egg Hunt- Join the Easter Bunny for the City’s annual Easter Egg Hunt at Millennium Park. Be sure to bring a basket or bag to help collect all the colorful and prize-filled plastic eggs. This event is rain or shine.                                                         Who: Children ages 9 and under                                                       When: Friday, April 3rd                                                                     Where: Millennium Park                                                             Time: The Hunt begins at 4:30 p.m. sharp!                             Cost: Free!!

Girls 9-10 4x100 Champs
Granite State Track and Field Program- (Replacing the discontinued Hershey Track and Field Program)
Track and field is a wonderful way to promote youth physical fitness, great for meeting new friends, and a fun way to keep in shape. Granite State Track and Field is designed for children ages 9-14. This program has replaced the discontinued Hershey Track and Field events and is now sponsored by Loco Sports and the NH Recreation and Park Association. Join the Somersworth Recreation Department as we help our athletes develop new skills and discover their potential in the sport of Track and Field.
Who: Children ages 9-14 (As of December 31, 2015)
* A copy of your child’s birth certificate is required at the time of registration *
Where: Idlehurst Elementary School Track
When: Practices will be held Tuesdays & Thursdays; May 19- June 25
Time: 3:30- 4:30 p.m.
Cost: $20 (Deadline to register for the program in Tuesday, May 5th)

Regional Meet:Tuesday, July 7- Lebanon, NH 10:00-4:00 p.m.

Kids Camp

Enjoy this active outdoor summer camp filled with fun! Activities include field trips, arts & crafts, swimming, special events, and athletics. The cost of camp includes breakfast, lunch, two weekly state park trips, special field trips, arts & crafts materials, and a camp T-shirt.

Who: Children going into grades K-5                                                                                         When: Monday-Friday;  8:30-4:00 p.m.                                                                                           Session 1: June 22- July 17 (No Camp Friday, July 3rd)  Session 2: July 20-August 14                Where: Noble Pines Park- 45 Grand Street

                                         Early Bird Fee- Register before May 15th                                                                                Cost per session (2 sessions offered- 4 weeks each):                                       $300 residents/ $400 non-residents

                                 Camp Fee- Deadline to register for camp is June 5th                                                                             $350 residents/ $450 non-residents

                                                Weekly Rate: (No Daily Rate offered)                                                                                                   $100 residents/ $150 non-residents

Half Day Camp- Kids Camp Only

This option is only available for Kids Camp. Drop off is 8:30 a.m. and pick up is Noon at Noble Pines Park. Please note this option excludes the field trip to the NH Fisher Cats game on Wednesday, 7/29 and Friday, July 3rd.

When: Monday, Wednesday, Friday (Excludes 7/3 & 7/29)                                                        Time: 8:30 a.m.- Noon                                                                                                                Cost per session: $100 residents/ $150 non-residents

Trends Camp

Join us for this exciting and active outdoor summer camp! This program will feature trips to state parks on Tuesdays and Thursdays, special field trips on Fridays, swimming, athletics, and lots of other engaging and fun events and activities. The cost includes all trips, activities, breakfast, and lunch.

Summer Camp Extended Care Option

This additional option is great for parents who need the extended care for their child during the work week. This option is offered to both Kids Camp and Trends Camp for an additional fee. Please do not drop off before 7:00 a.m. as there will not be staff available. Pick up is promptly at 5:30 p.m.

                   Before Camp Hours: 7:00- 8:30 a.m.    After Camp Hours: 4:00- 5:30 p.m.

                              Cost: $100 per session or $30 per week (No Daily rate)

Check out the new Splash Pad located at Noble Pines Park!

Attention: The Splash Pad is now closed and will re-open in summer 2015, thanks for another great season!! For any questions, please contact Recreation Supervisor Kristen Ducharme- 603-692-9508.

Come beat the summer heat with Somersworth’s new and highly anticipated Splash Pad. The Splash pad will be open daily starting on June 14th through Labor Day from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, weather permitting.

 Looking for a private park rental for a function or party?!

Millennium Park is available for private one-day or two-day rentals on weekends from April to October. The park offers a softball field with lights, 12 horseshoe pits, 2 volleyball courts, electricity, bathroom facilities, 3 barbecue grills, a covered pavilion with 8 picnic tables, a small play structure and large parking lot. City Hall Office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Registrations for all programs, events, and trips can be made in person at the Recreation Office located in City Hall. All registrations must include payment- please call before mailing a payment to ensure space is available. If we are not available in the office there is a drop box located across the hall for your convenience.
