Registering your business-All businesses except for a Sole Proprietor that uses their exact name as the company name, must register with the Secretary of State. To register a business visit: http://sos.nh.gov/corp_div.aspx.
Employees-If your business has employees you will need to provide unemployment insurance. The Department of Labor, www.nh.gov/labor, provides detailed information on this subject along with other employer labor questions. New hire reporting is done through the NH Employment Security office, http://www.nhes.nh.gov/. Other forms and publications can also be sourced through NHES.

Certificate of Occupancy- Most new businesses owners will need to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy. Applications can be found at the Department of Development Services located in city hall or through our website under “Applications & Permits.” When in doubt simply reach out to the City Building Inspector at 603-692-9522.
