MUNICIPAL ELECTION

The Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to elect a Mayor, Ward City Councilors and School Board Members (one from each of five wards), four At Large City Councilors and four At Large School Board Members, and election officials for all five wards. Voters will also be voting on thirteen charter amendment questions.

The polling places are as follows:

• Ward 3 – Flanagan Center Gym, 25 Bartlett Avenue
• Ward 4 – Charpentier Apartments, 28 Franklin Street
• Ward 5 – Romeo J. Messier Building, 218 Main Street

��������� Please be aware that the State of NH now requires voters to show identification when they vote. If they do not have identification they will be required to sign a certificate which is then sent to the State.
For persons wishing to register to vote, you may do so at the following times:

• The Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session at City Hall, One Government Way, on October 26, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to register voters, accept any changes in names, addresses, wards, or party affiliations. Please bring identification (driver’s license is fine) and a piece of mail if you are a new resident.
• If you are a new citizen of the United States, please bring naturalization papers also.
• Residents may also register to vote at their polling place on election day. Proper identification showing the person’s Somersworth address and their date of birth should be presented.
If you will be unable to go to the polling place on election day due to illness, disability, a work commitment or religious observation, you may obtain an absentee ballot either by calling or coming in to the City Clerk’s Office at One Government Way. An absentee ballot can only be given to (or mailed) and received from the person requesting the ballot.
