VOTER - PARTY AFFILIATION CHANGE

Temporary Modification to Requirements for
Change of Party Affiliation

 

Due to Emergency Order #43 Pursuant to Executive Order 2020-04 as Extended by Executive Orders 2020-05 and 2020-08, there has been a modification to change your party affiliation. It waives the requirement that a voter who wants to change their party affiliation appears in person and make an oath to the Clerk or the Supervisors of the Checklist. The order establishes a new form for changing party affiliation. The form is located HERE.

A voter can fill it in on-line and then print.  A voter may also print it and then fill it in with a pen.  The form requires the voter to complete it in its entirety, print it, sign it, obtain a witness signature, and return it to the Clerk’s office via:

PLEASE NOTE:  The Change of Party Affiliation form must be received by 5:00 pm on June 2, 2020.

 

Furthermore, the Emergency Order also provides that if a voter attempts to submit the form on time, but it is not received or acted on, a voter may change party when filing for office by completing an affidavit.  The affidavit language is specified in the order.

The Emergency Order also provides that if a voter attempts to submit the form on time, but if it is not received or acted on, a voter may change party at the polling place on primary day, September 8, 2020, by completing an affidavit.  The affidavit language is specified in the order.
