Requests & Interlibrary Loan

The Somersworth Public Library strives to meet the needs of our residents. If you would like to borrow a book or movie that we don't own, please let us know. We may purchase it based on your request. If we are not able to purchase your requested item, we will request to borrow it from another library for you. Arrival times vary, but we generally receive requested materials from other libraries in 1-2 weeks.

If you find you need to renew an item that we borrowed from another library, please request your renewal before the due date, as it may take a day or two to contact the lending library. Some libraries are only open a few days each week, and if the item you have has acquired a hold, the lending library may not grant your request for a renewal.

Making Your Request

If you want to request a book or movie that we don't have in our collection, you may fill-out a request form available at the Front Desk, or you may call us at (603) 692-4587 or contact us by e-mail. You may also submit your request in your library account at the "Your Purchase Suggestions" page. Access your library account here, and see more information about using your account at our Borrowing Information page.

Please include as much of the following information in your request as possible:

  • Title
  • Author or Performer
  • Format Needed (Book, Audiobook, DVD, Other)
  • Your Name
  • Your Library Card Number
