City of Somersworth Parking Ban Information

The City of Somersworth has a parking ban during all winter storms.  Parking bans are issued by the Public Works Department and enforced by the Police Department.  Any vehicles parked on the public roadways during a ban will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense with no exceptions.  Parking tickets issued are $10.00 and tows vary depending on the company used.

You can access information on a parking ban from local media outlets, or by checking the signs entering the city.  You can also contact the Public Works Snow Emergency Hot Line by calling (603) 692-9131. Residents can also sign up for NIXLE.com alerts.  We will also update you on our Facebook Page and Twitter Account of current Bans.  Lastly, on the City’s website, you can sign up for an email notification!  Additional information on bans can be found online by going to https://www.somersworth.com/welcome-somersworth/pages/parking-bans.

PERMIT PARKING ON NOBLE STREET AND RIVER STREET

On January 7, 2019, the Somersworth City Council passed Ordinance 9-19 to allow permit parking during snow emergency parking bans on Noble Street adjacent to the Noble Pines Park, and on River Street adjacent to Jules Bisson Park.

Permits to park there during parking bans resulting from a snow emergency are available from November 1 through March 31 at a rate of $20.00 per month and are available at the Police Department.

There are 17 spaces available on Noble Street and 5 spaces available on River Street. Permits will be issued on a first come, first served basis. The permits are only valid during the dates listed when there is a snow emergency parking ban in effect.

Vehicles parked in this area with a valid permit must be moved by 8 a.m. on the day following the completion of the parking ban to allow for snow removal from the designated area. Vehicles not moved per the Ordinance will be subject to being towed at the owner's expense.
